Direct Payments Peer Support Group – H&F DP Users

Action on Disability would like to let Direct Payments Users in the H&F Borough know that there is a Monthly Peer Support Group for YOU

About the Group:

This is a group for and led by Direct Payment Users for you to share experiences, support each other and set discussion topics.

  • Action on Disability are rethinking how we run direct payment peer support.
  • We want to work with you to make it work really well.
  • We want you to make the decisions with us about how your peer support group runs.

To do that we need you – your experiences and your ideas.

In the short term, we have asked Peter Gay from Personalisation Partnership to help us rethink peer support – Peter has a lot of experience working with direct payments and peer support.

Getting Involved

There are 3 ways to get involved now:

  1. Come along to our peer support meetings. We will start to redesign how you want the group to work.

When: 3rd Tuesday of Each Month

Times: 1.00pm – 4.00pm

Where: St Paul’s Church Meeting Rooms, Queen Caroline Street, Hammersmith, W6 9PJ

2. If you can’t get to the meetings but want to be involved, contact us using the details below, to tell us.

Leave us your contact details. We will contact you back.

3. Tell us:

  • What you want from direct payment peer support.
  • What would really help you with your direct payment?

There are nearly 500 people getting a direct payment in Hammersmith and Fulham. We’d like as many of you as possible to get involved.

We know that not everyone can get to our meetings. We will suggest having meetings in other places around the borough and others ways to support each other – using online groups or contacting each other by phone.

If you know other people who get a direct payment please tell them about the direct payment peer support. The more direct payment users who get involved the better it will be!

Please work with us to make your direct payment peer support great!

Volunteering / Getting Involved: If you have some time and would like to share your own knowledge as a Direct Payments User, then why not volunteer and help run the group.

We Can Offer You:

  • Out of Pocket’ travel expenses (upto £5 per day),
  • Access to a PC / Laptop and Landline telephone
  • Disability Equality Training
  • A chance to make a difference to other Direct Payment users.
